Illac Diaz and Manny de Vera Are Mason Fellows '08


Illac Diaz and Manny de Vera, are two Filipino Mason Fellows at the HKS for class 2008. Illac and Manny are well renowned professionals in their fields of architecture and finance, respectively. Chato Calderon met with them in November 2007 during her Fall meeting of the Board of Directors of the HKS Alumni Association. Both will be graduating in June 2008 with degrees of Masters in Public Administration. On memorable event in 2008 is the 50th anniversary of the Mason fellow Program that will be celebrated in November. This is the oldest and largest international program of Harvard started by Edward Mason, who was a professor in economics and former dean of the Graduate School of Public Administration. He was instrumental in forming the Kennedy School of Government. Mason Fellows are high-level public officials from developing and transitional economy countries. The program boasts of famous alumni such as Felipe Calderon, president of Mexico, Jose Maria Figueres, president of Costa Rica and Eduardo Rodriguez, president of Bolivia.
